Summer Concert Series at the Sanctuary and More

Summer wouldn’t be complete without the concert series on the Grand Lawn of the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Every Saturday evening, beginning at 5 p.m. a well-known regional performer takes the stage to entertain all ages. The concerts are complimentary and sponsored by the Town of Kiawah Island.

If you go to a concert, BYOC (bring your own chair). No outside coolers or alcoholic beverages are allowed, as drink service is available.

The dates for the rest of the summer include:

Saturday, July 13

Palmetto Soul, a band that plays a variety of tunes from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and today.

Saturday, July 20

Coastal Breeze Band, an eclectic group that plays retro, soul, pop, and Motown songs from the 70’s through the 90’s.

Saturday, July 27

17 South Band, which plays swing, jazz, rhythm and blues, Motown, and beach music from the last 50 years.

Saturday, August 3

Palmetto Soul

Saturday, August 10

The Sneakers, who play funk and jazz as well as beach and blues.

Saturday, August 17

Common Ground, a folk and bluegrass band sure to please everyone.

Other summer concerts include Music on the Green Summer Concert Series at Freshfields Village, Blues & BBQ Harbor Cruises, and The Sound of Charleston.

  • Nutcracker Ballet: From December 12 to December 13, the Charleston Ballet will be performing the classic ballet, The Nutcracker.   • Charleston Christmas Special: Broadway performers, Brad and Jennifer Moranz, take the stage at the Charleston Music Hall, with 20 talented performers, in this Christmas time tradition in the Lowcountry.   • Charleston Harbor Sleigh Ride Aboard “The Thriller”: Take a one-hour tour aboard the Thriller Charleston, a speedboat with seating for 43 people.   • Holiday Choral Performances at Charleston Country School of Arts: Join in the holiday spirit as The Charleston Country School of Performing Arts hosts a series of concerts sure to please the entire family. Performance are held December 6 and December 14-15 at 6:30 pm.  Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. All shows are held at the Rose Maree Myers Theater for Performing Arts on campus.   • Charleston Symphony Orchestra: Join the Charleston Symphony Orchestra on December 14, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. for all of your holiday favorites with the CSO Chorus and conductor James Stephenson, whose arrangements have been performed by the Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, New York Pops, and more. It all takes place on the College of Charleston main campus in Sottile Theatre. Tickets may be purchased online at www.charlestonsymphony.org.

The Sound of Music: A List of Outdoor Concerts and Music Events Coming to the Low Country

Summertime in the South wouldn’t be complete without a picnic blanket, several hundred of your closest friends, and the sound of music weaving through the air.

Luckily, Charleston is a music city. You can find a concert to attend just about every night of the week, and in the summertime, many of them are outside. If you enjoy the outdoors, music, and good company, then these options will be great for you and your family!

Awendaw Green Barn Jam

Wednesday nights in Awendaw are filled with the sound of Charleston’s best homegrown up-and-coming artists. Shows start at 6:00 p.m. at the Awendaw Green, off Highway 17, just past the Sewee Outpost.

Party at the Point

Head over to Patriot’s Point after work on Fridays for an evening filled with great music and $2 beer. The Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina hosts this weekly happy hour concert series, letting you enjoy the cool harbor breeze as you unwind and enjoy the show. The series runs through Friday, June 29.

Last Summer On Earth Tour

Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, and Cracker are coming to Daniel Island’s Family Circle Stadium July 14. Don’t miss this chance to see all of your 90’s musical favorites in one place! Tickets are available on Ticketmaster .
